Are you feeling remorseful? Are you finally realizing that your unconstitutional vote in Bush vs. Gore has led us to the unthinkable? Well, here's one way you can begin to make amends....

In response to this diary posted here today,
BREAKING: Sandra Day O'Connor Speaks out and unbelievably says, I then request of Justice O'Connor to come forward to make it right. For I once respected you, Justice O'Connor. I once respected the USSC. I once respected the office of the Presidency. I once respected all that it stood for. Your one vote which lead us to today however, took that respect away. However, putting your current words into action now could do something to restore the respect I once had for these institutions.
You can sign our PAC's petition calling for the restoration of the Presidential term you helped steal from the legitimate winner of the 2000 election. The vote you gave knowing full well where it would lead. The vote you can never recant. Signing this petition of course won't absolve you or the others on the USSC from their part in helping this dictatorship come to power, but it is one way you can begin to atone for the death, destruction, war, poverty, torture, and decades of debt that one vote has now given to our children. It will not however, absolve you from allowing these usurpers to shred the very Constitution you swore to uphold, because to me that oath is sacred, but it would show your words are sincere.
And I also think it is totally just that Al Gore should not ever have to run for office again. He should not have to be involved in any draft movement. You don't draft winners, and winners shouldn't have to run. And you know he won. You then fight to give them back what they earned and what was stolen from them and us. That is, if you are an American with courage, spine, and a sense of conscience.
I then have every intention of delivering the petition mentioned above to Congress (and yes, people are signing it,) whether I get satisfaction or not. I don't intend to sit out here silently accepting this blatant destruction of all I hold dear as an American who was raised to uphold, respect, and cherish the Constitution of this country. I will not sit out here and be told to "get over it", or to "shut up", or that "I am batty" for fighting for what our Founders died to institute and preserve. Having your signature on it then would surely give it a bit more clout. I have Ted Rall's, and a couple others, besides over three hundred Americans whose voices DO count on this petition, but wow, an ex USSC justice who saw the light would surely be a coup, pardon the pun.
Therefore, if you truly have seen just what that one vote has managed to wreck upon our country, you can sign the petition and begin to work to reverse this injustice. That would surely show how much you truly care about where that vote steared us.
We also need a constitutional amendment to protect those candidates who have Presidential elections subverted from them by fraud with specific remedies attached... And we need corporate privatization of our Democracy (what little we have left) out of our voting process! Are you also willing to then stand up for that?
The (S)election of 2000 was also the beginning to what we have been led into now by two very willing Parties in our Congress and their Party leaderships. And since I don't see that status quo going anywhere anytime soon, to think they would allow a good man like Al Gore to actually run and win fair and square is laughable at best.
Surely as well, with all the evidence compiled over the years there is then a clear case of fraud that should bring accountability to those who committed that crime not only against Al Gore, but the American people, and give us a remedy... Our President back. However, nary a whimper, just like now as they take our rights with the Patriot Act, spy on us, and use this war on terror to install policies that will take decades to reverse.
And no, seeking to restore a stolen term that was gotten by unconstitutional means is in no way proposing a coup. A coup is what stole it from us. Trouble is, people don't really want to go the extra mile or think outside the box like our Founding Fathers did to truly seek the justice that is right. Frankly, that is why I believe people remain unmotivated in this country. There is nothing happening to truly stir their souls.
For all of those who claim to give a damn about our Constitution, why are you all allowing Bush and his henchmen to rip it to shreds? Why do you all continue to think this is business as usual? They violated the constitution in 2000 regarding the electoral votes ( and haven't stopped since,) even in so much as allowing the USSC to intervene! And Ms. O'Connor, you allowed it!.
This is then the text to our petition that has been up for almost two years demanding accountability. I say, restore Gore. He already did all the work. Now it's time for us to do some. So, are you in Justice O'Connor?

To: U.S. Congress
_
We the undersigned citizens of the United States of America, do hereby submit this petition in support of the "Restoration of Albert Gore Jr. to the office of the Presidency of the United States of America" for which he was duly elected to by popular and electoral vote in the year 2000. This petition is submitted as a formal request for action to be taken by the Congress of the United States of America, in response to the grievous and treacherous violations of our constitution and Democratic process by states, legislatures, courts, and elected officials which were permitted to occur in the year 2000 that have yet to be addressed by this body in accordance with the principles of said constitution. This is also a formal request to seek redress for the unconstitutional means utilized by George W. Bush, the state of Florida, and the USSC to claim the Presidency of the United States of America over the will of the people, and to seek legislation to provide for the fair and equitable treatment of the American people and their votes should such circumstances arise again.

It is the right of every American citizen to have one vote to represent their voice, and to have that vote fairly and expeditiously counted. It is the right of every American citizen to also be free from harrassment, intolerance, and deliberate malice being exerted against them with the intent of denying them that right. This was not the case regarding the election of 2000 as reported in many states. This is especially true in Florida where reports of harrassment, intimidation based on race, and fraud were reported, recorded, and litigated. However, to this date proper recourse has not been expedited to the people of the state of Florida, nor to this nation as a whole for those violations which have brought about dire repercussions to our future as a Representative Democracy, and our national security.
_
It is the responsibility of the Congress of the United States not the USSC to resolve Presidential election disputes, as was the case regarding Hayes/Tilden in 1876, and also as is outlined in the 12th Amendment of our constitution. Therefore, the USSC was in violation of the checks and balances and separation of powers clauses that our forefathers incorporated into our constitution in order to guard against such tyranny by not seeking Congressional participation, and by our Congress, for allowing the USSC to exert such power over our electorate.
_
It is the responsibility of states to expedite due recourse for any unconstitutional actions taken against the people they represent under the 14th Amendment of our constitution and their state laws, which was not done by the state of Florida regarding this election. Nor did Congress exercise the power to enforce the provisions of this article regarding the state of Florida, or any other state reported to have experienced such violations as is outlined in this article.

Through the course of our nation's history there have been many challenges faced by the American people. These challenges while daunting at the time were met and overcome with firm resolve, conviction, faith, and an irrepressible spirit that chartered our course to preserve the principles we cherish. This nation now stands at a crossroads of unparalleled historical significance once again, when it will rest upon the actions of our people to decide its fate. These past four years have been years of tremendous turmoil, devastation, war, and the erosion of those principles that so many gave their hearts, souls, and lives to preserve. These conditions have been a direct result of the inaction taken regarding the violation of our constitution regarding the election of 2000, which we believe not only led us to such turmoil, but also put our national security at risk.
This current administration has proven from its actions that it is not one that believes in the constitution, the rule of law, or in respecting the voice or will of the people. This can no longer be tolerated by a people or a Congress that believe in liberty and Democracy. The direct participation of our people in the political process is now imperative to right the wrongs of the past in order to ensure justice and a sustainable future for ourselves and future generations.
_
It is now incumbent upon our Congress as representatives of the American people, to now exercise its powers under the Constitution of this nation to give proper recourse to the citizens of this nation regarding their choice for President in the year 2000, in order to bring about unity, stability, and security to our nation.
Sincerely,
The Undersigned

Will you then help lead the fight to seek justice for this egregious attack on our Constitution, and the stealing of our real President from us? It is now time for the words to become action. Please then consider this request.
